A Farm where the healing power of love and kindness reigns supreme
Nestled amidst serene countryside, Hraefn Ham Farm in Hutcherleigh, Devon, stands as a sanctuary of compassion, offering solace to those in need, both four-legged and otherwise. At its core, it serves as a haven for rescued dogs, particularly those rescued by a Scandinavian lottery dogs charity from the harsh realities of kill shelters in Romania.
The journey to the farm marks a new beginning for these dogs, a chance at a life filled with love and care. Guided by the unwavering dedication of volunteers, including John and Trudy, two of the people we proudly support. The farm becomes a place of healing and growth for these precious animals. Together, they work on a mission of nurturing, with tasks ranging from walking and feeding to providing essential training for their canine companions.
But the farm’s compassion extends beyond its canine residents. Here, retired ponies find refuge, embraced by the farm owner’s generosity and compassion. When the opportunity arose to lend a hand in caring for these gentle creatures, John and Trudy embraced it wholeheartedly. The invitation to groom and walk the ponies was met with eagerness, marking the beginning of a beautiful bond.
Now, each Wednesday is dedicated to the noble task of dog-walking, a time when John and the dogs alike explore the vast expanse of the farm, forging connections and memories and, as the week draws to a close, Sunday brings with it the gentle rhythm of tending to the needs of the ponies, a day of tranquillity and shared moments of tenderness for Trudy.
At the farm, every interaction is filled with compassion, every task undertaken with purpose. It is a place where each animal finds solace and John and Trudy discover the profound joy of giving back. Together, they are both forming a community bound by empathy and dedication, united in their mission to make a difference, one pawprint at a time.
